PROJECT

ARE YOU RED CROSS

KUUMBA JUICE & COFFEE

READY?

Are You Red Cross Ready? was a community preparedness activation created in partnership with the American Red Cross of Wisconsin to make emergency readiness education more accessible, practical, and community-centered.

The event focused on helping attendees prepare for unexpected emergencies, including home fires, floods, and other disasters, and on receiving hands-only CPR instruction. The live activation was intentionally small, creating space for direct learning, questions, and hands-on engagement.

Beyond the event itself, Uptown Society produced an original content package for the Red Cross, turning important safety information into custom video assets to extend the activation's impact beyond the room.

THE CHALLENGE

Emergency preparedness information is important, but it can often feel distant, overwhelming, or easy to ignore until something happens.

The challenge was to take essential information from the American Red Cross and present it in a way that felt accessible, useful, and connected to the community. The project needed to do more than share information. It needed to create an experience where people could learn directly, ask questions, and walk away better prepared.

There was also an opportunity to extend the message beyond the event by creating original video content that could live online and support continued education.

THE SOLUTION

Uptown Society developed "Are You Red Cross Ready?" as a live community activation, supported by original content production.

The event was hosted at Kuumba Juice & Coffee and featured a Red Cross representative walking attendees through practical emergency preparedness steps for home fires, floods, and other disasters. Attendees also received hands-only CPR instruction as part of the program.

Uptown Society led the creative and executional structure of the event, including the location, promotional direction, event flow, social content, and overall experience design.

To expand the project beyond the live activation, Uptown Society also produced a custom safety content series for the American Red Cross, including four long-form safety videos and four short-form reels. These assets were designed to make preparedness information more accessible, shareable, and useful after the event ended.

We truly appreciate the collaboration and the thoughtful work Uptown Society put into the content.
